About ICPF

The International Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation (www.icpfweb.org) is a multi-disciplinary humanitarian foundation devoted to cleft lip and palate patients. It was established on October 23, 1997 at Kyoto, Japan, with more than twenty countries participating. The goals of the ICPF are to advance the care for cleft lip and palate patients, worldwide, besides building supportive care for children, adolescents and adults afflicted with cleft lip and palate treatment through volunteer activity, charity missions and fund raising, to hold a multi-disciplinary international congress in order to facilitate mutual understanding and establishing a network system of information exchange, regardless of fields and organization.

As a part of its commitment to the treatment of cleft lip and palate, ICPF has initiated an awareness compaign and formulation of recommendations for saving afflicted fetuses from termination by abortion. The long term activity of ICPF has proven to be successful. At the 8th World Cleft Congress of the ICPF, that was held at Hanoi Medical University, Hanoi, Vietnam, the ICPF put the slogan of “STOP ABORTION” as “The Hanoi Declaration” on 25th November 2013. Through this it is aimed to support the exchange of clinical and scientific knowledge for the benefit of patients and society.
